Bogus to Bubbly

Looking at my last post, I realised that I had not been posting for a long time. My computer was unable to connect to the internet and then it sort of hanged......luckily my brother managed to fixed it by reformatting the computer (AGAIN). All information I had is of course, gone, since I am so stupid to not make back ups. So to those who are waiting me to send pictures of Cosfest or some other things, please be patient as my computer is still not in tip top condition with no sound and sometimes blue or red screen.

I had just browsed through my favourite author's blog. Found a post that was dated 2 June 2008 (quite an old post) and read through it......and got really UBER EXCITED about IT! Why?!!! Because, Mr Scott Westerfeld, the author of the UGLIES Series, is going to write a book all about the UGLIES Series!!!! O.M.G!!!!! \O.O/ So you can imagine me jumping for joy *YESSSS!!!!* with my brain filled with thoughts of getting my hands on the book, Bogus to Bubbly: An Insider's Guide to the World of Uglies (Paperback), as soon as possible. The bad thing is that...this book is going to be released while I am having my Ordinary Level examination! Oh NO! What kind of bad timing is that???!!!! I wish that I can get it...but I am supposed to be studying at that time!! ARGHHH! Also, I am supposing to be saving up for Lolita as well. Jeez...while other are saving up for Lolita and Cosplay/Dollfies, I am saving up for Lolita and books. Aren't I a "hardworking student"? O.o But let's put that aside first. Below are the cover, details of the book with quotes from the author's site and also from Amazon.

Bogus to Bubbly: An Insider's Guide to the World of Uglies (Paperback)

Details of the book with quotes from the author's site which you can find here.
That familiar face is, of course, the model from the Uglies cover. In fact, it’s a photo from the same shoot, which almost made it onto the book. But at the last minute, the powers that be decided to switch to the cover we all know and love.

Fascinating factoids like this are what Bogus to Bubbly is all about: tons of background info on how the series came to be conceived, researched, written, and produced. It’s sort of a giant FAQ, in which I try to answer the thousand-or-so most common questions that I’ve been asked by fans over the years.

Among its many sections are the following:
Research notes on the science behind the series;
A massive history of the world (including the Rusty Crash and recovery);
Maps of Tally’s city and the greater continent;
Illustrations of various gadgets from the books;
A complete glossary, plus an essay on slang generation;
Mini-histories of all the cliques and derivations of the character names;
The definitive essay on the inspiration for the books;
An illustrated hoverboard manual!

Bogus to Bubbly doesn’t come out till October 21, and at the moment it can be pre-ordered only on Amazon, but I’m sure the other online booksellers will be listing it soon. And, of course, come October your friendly local bricks-and-mortar bookstore will be stocking them in quantity.

As that date gets closer, watch this space for sneak previews of Bogus content.

Did I mention the hoverboard manual?

I can't believe how time flies!!! It's only 7 days more till Cosfest! It's going to be my first time going to such a big Cosplay event! I am so excited and I am seriously counting down to the day of Cosfest with each passing day. I am going to wear my only Lolita on only one day of the 2 day event. As for the other day, I will be wearing the usual Singapore street clothes. I must make a list of stuff to do or I might forget to bring something! Plus~, it's my first time wearing the Alice Bow Hairband which I had just bought for $8 from Neko with my Lolita!!!!!~~~~ =D

I am so envious of Elie who can buy a new Lolita! But then, it's Bodyline which is very notorious for it's bad quality. Plus, the shipping fees is so expensive! A Alice Bow which cost around SGD$12 will cost around SGD$52 with shipping fees! With this money, I might as well buy a BABY, THE STARS SHINE BRIGHT or other non-off brand products as it will cost around the same. =.=||

But first, I have to do well for my "O" Level Chinese Oral and finish my D&T Product!

=^0^=

I must give it all the best!! Let's hope that I will do well in "O" Levels!

P.S I am so glad that I had reminded Huang Wang of the hair accessories and bag which she needed to prepare as she had totally forgotten all about it. She said that she will go shopping for the stuff today. Let's hope that she will find all the things she need and be ready for Cosfest!!! =D

KAMIKAZE GIRLS Screening @ The Cathay Sat, 21 June 2008 (Confirmed)

If you have nothing to do during the holidays...

Taken from Black Alice's Blog.
Dear all,
Black Alice is holding a movie screening of "Kamikaze Girls", and tickets are now for sale!

Photobucket

"Kamikaze Girls is the latest pop-culture phenomenon to take Japan by storm. It began as a best-selling novel, “Shimotsuma Story” (English Title, “Kamikaze Girls”), by cult writer Novala Takemoto, whose empathy with social outsiders and decadent fashion sense has helped cultivate a devoted following among young women, particularly those in the “Lolita” fashion scene.

Momoko (pop idol Kyoko Fukada, pictured above) yearns to live in 18-century Versailles than in her back-country hometown of Shimotsuma, heartland of the yakuza. To escape, she loses herself in the dreamy, doll-like fashions of the "Lolita” scene. Her idol is Akinori Isobe, chief designer of Baby, the Stars Shine Bright—her favorite Lolita design house. She travels all the way to Tokyo to shop at their store."

I bought it from Black Alice at SGD$255.
Below: My Lolita Jumper skirt!!!

As I the product pictures on different views and details are in pink, you just have to try to imagine it in black and white. I tried taking pictures on details of my own Jumper but it is not as clear as the images given on Baby, The Stars Shine Bright website.

That’s all for my Lolita Jumper!

Next, I am going to let you see my Infant Blouse! Unfortunately, I could not find any product pictures or information for it so you just have to do with my poor quality pictures.

Information on my Blouse (worn inside)
Brand: Infant
Category: Blouse
Colour: White
I bought it from Black Alice at SGD$56. The original price was SGD$59 as it says on the price tag.

Below: My Infant Blouse front view.

Below: Sleeve Details

Below: The price tag of my blouse

Next coming up is my Pannier! What is a pannier? It is something you wear under the dress to make the dress puffy and blown up so that it looks really sweet and cute! It is just like a skirt but with special texture to make it puffy!

Information on my Pannier (worn inside)
Brand: Unknown (It comes with my Baby, The Stars Shine Bright Jumper). I think that it's something like a free gift from Black Alice.
Category: Pannier.
Colour: Black.

I bought it from Black Alice at SGD$255 together with my Baby, The Stars Shine Bright Jumper.

Below: My pannier when it is lying flat

Below: My pannier when it is standing up (Side View)

Next coming up is my pair of Yang Girlies Knee-high Socks! How could you do without the ever popular Knee-high Socks when wearing Lolita Japan style?
Information on my Yang Girlies Knee-high Socks
Brand: Yang Girlies
Category: Knee-high Socks
Material: Cotton
Colour: Black socks and ribbons with White Laces
Price: $12
I bought it from Catz Apparel, a store in Bugis Village.

Next coming up is my shoes! As true blue Lolita shoes are expensive (normally around $70 and above) and not to mention possibly uncomfortable for the height is around 5cm or above. The height of the heel can even reach more than 10cm. Imagine walking around with heels that high! So I just went to buy a pair of Mitju Ballet Flats to match with my Lolita as they are suitable and signals child innocence as well!

Information on my Mitju Ballet Flats
Brand: Mitju
Category: Ballet Flats
Material: Plastic
Colour: Black with white
I bought it from a store named Mitju in Far East Plaza at $17.42 when it was having a 30% off sale. The pair of Ballet Flats originally cost $24.90.

Below: Side view of the Mitju Ballet Flats

As for the bag I will be bringing to match my Lolita, I have decided that if I could not find any suitable ones, I shall use the Nodame Cantabile Piano bag for it’s in black and white which is matching the colour theme for my Lolita.

Information on my Nodame Cantabile Piano bag
Brand: Nodame Cantabile
What?: A manga, anime and live action drama serial in Japan.
Material: Possibly cotton
Colour: Black with white piano keys

Below: Outside view of Nodame Cantabile Piano bag taken by me.

Now that you have seen it all, it’s time for you to see me in Lolita clothes but sadly without the bag though. I have taken the photos using the reflection of myself in the mirror.

I don't want to be a muscular woman!!!!

I took the 'O' Level Chinese today...it was not as hard as expected.

I went to meet my mum after that. We have Macdonald for lunch. ^.^I went to SportsLink to find the dumbbells and the mat which me and my mum wanted respectively. However, the dumbbells which were for women had only the weight 0.9kg and 6kg per pair. 0.9kg is way too light while the 6kg is way too heavy. I found out from the staff that they don't have any in between weight...hello?! I only want to be stronger not to become a muscular woman!!!

More later...

My mother and I.....thinking of exercising together?!

That's right! My mum is thinking of exercising to get rid of those fats around her tummy (and also to just keep fit)....so far she had tried sit ups and by not using the lift when getting home. But....she doesn't use a mat when doing the sit ups so her backbone hurts like hell. Also, one can only climb up stairs when going home that many times a day...I don't know if it's really useful....

Actually, I have been thinking about exercising too. Seventeen always managed to feature one set of workout in each issue but sometimes there's a need of some equipments such as Dumbbells which is something I do not have....also, I do get lazy sometimes and thus I will stop during the exercises. >.<

I am seriously considering of getting dumbbells and the exercise mat....but what weight do I get? I think maybe around 2kg+? I know that's very little but I am really weak.....

My mum is thinking of getting a pair of sports shoe so that she can run in the park as a way of exercising...it's been a long time since she had last ran though....I am thinking of seriously joining her in the running and also getting the things I want.

I think that this is coming true....

A healthier and fitter me!!!

Watched Iron Man Yesterday!!!~

Yes indeed, I had watched Iron Man yesterday with Selene, Selene's sister and Joey at Plaza Singapura. What happens before that was shopping at Orchard Road with Selene, Selene's sister, Joey, Danielle and Nevadah. in case you don't know, Danielle and Nevadah are two of the New Zealanders which had come over. I had found out that apparently, New Zealanders are are not very good at shopping as they tend to spend their money very quickly and are not used to walking on concrete floors for too long.

Selene's sister helped us to booked the tickets. The seating was terrific as we were in the very last row sitting in the center. Perfect view! Thanks a lot for getting us such wonderful seats!

Anyways, Iron Man was really cool and surprisingly good but I don't understand why he has to be a womanizer.....-_-||| though he's different from the other super heroes I had seen. The trailer for Iron Man was not as good as the movie. There were some funny parts as usual... =^w^= I really enjoyed the movie. Time flies when i was watching it!!!
Well, just watch the movie yourself for I am really tired today and do not wish to write a elaborate review of it. But it's definitely worth watching. I love the suit and Tony Stark's house and brain (the genius part). =D

Iron Man- Movie Trailer (2008)

It was around 11pm when I watched finished the movie which started at 8.30pm. Reached home at around 11.40pm.

So I saw some pictures on Cosplay of Iron Man..there are good and bad so....

Erm.....no offense but it looks like pajamas to me...

This one is really good but it would even better if there's lights inserted in the chest and palms!! What's more is that they said it's fan made!

Testing it out....

Final product!!!

What do you think???? =^w^=

Do watch Iron Man if possible!

New Zealanders are coming!!!!!!!~~~~

YAY YAY YAY YAY!!!!!~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

After such a long wait of nearly half a year, the New Zealanders are finally coming to Singapore!!!! They will be taking night flight of SQ on Wednesday, 14 May 2008 and will arrive in Singapore the morning. I will be (finally) able to see them in flesh again (especially my host!) and go out shopping (showing them Singapore) with them!!!

They will be so shocked at the amount of people seen in one area and also when during in LRT and MRT!!! ^0^

I shall stop posting for now! I will add on to this post next time for it's Lunch time now!!

Final Fantasy X-2: Yuna & Lenne [1000 words]

If you have noticed, I had just changed my blog song to 1000 words. 1000 words is my current favourite song for now. I preferred Jade Villalon's English version than Koda Kumi's Japanese or English version(she needs to brush up on her English pronunciation) as Jade Villalon's version has more emotion put into the song and makes it more heartfelt. However, on a side note, I like Koda Kumi's version of real Emotion better than Jade Villalon's. Koda Kumi's version of real emotion can really make one wants to dance. =D

Both 1000 words and real Emotion are songs which are included in the popular game franchise Final Fantasy X-2. Koda Kumi was not famous when she was choosen to sing both songs for the game. Both songs gave her a chance to be recognized as the singer for the songs by Final Fantasy fans. This was actually a very short summary how Koda Kumi gradually became famous.... >.<||||

But anyway, we must not forget about the 1000 words song! =^0^=

Original Version found in Final Fantasy X-2. This was subbed by the YouTube user, blueimpulse36. The song is the English version of 1000 words sang by Jade Villalon.

~Wind’s Café (風の喫茶店) APPROVED!!!!~

[January to May]
Planning and writing of the proposal for Wind’s Café (風の喫茶店).

[On 2 May 2008, Friday]
I had thought that I had included everything but when I show the proposal to that person, that person told me that I had not included lots of things and gave me a one full page of things to add! That person did not tell me to include such things when I consulted that person on how to write a proposal! That person is wasting my ink and time! Why couldn't that person tell me everything in one go?!

[On 5 May 2008, Monday]
=7.40am=
Proposal for Wind’s Café (風の喫茶店) was handed up at the parade square! VP flipped to the page where we were explaining about Japanese Street Wear such as Decora and Visual Kei and she didn't even flinched when she saw the pictures! She was so glad to see the proposal that she was grinning while reading the content page! Seriously! A great start to the possibility of the school accepting the proposal!
=8.05am=
Vice-principal came to my class during mathematics lesson and told me that she had lost the proposal and requested me to print out another copy for her!!! o.O I've used up half of my $60 ink cartridges to print the proposal! Printing it another time meant that I will used up all the ink!
=8.15am to 8.30am=
Vice-principal came to my class during mathematics lesson holding the proposal in her hands. She asked me to go out of the classroom and she told me how happy she was with the idea and what we need to improve on. So I asked her if this means that the school had accepted the proposal? SHE SAID YES!!! I couldn't believe that it was so easy for the school to accept such culture which was not commonly found in Singapore!!!! =D

[On 8 May 2008, Thursday]
=Around 11.45am=
Elie and I was standing outside the AVA Room together with the rest our class while waiting for our S.S teacher to open the door for us. VP saw us standing there and approached us. Turns up that she wanted to inform us that the date of the carnival might changed to 8 August 2008, Friday. No doubt, there's pros and cons to this changed of date. The good thing is that we would be able to catch the crowd of students while they are leaving the school after National Day celebration. they might be tempted to visit Wind’s Café due to our striking clothes. However, the cons is that our list of helpers include students from Universities, Polytechnics and ITE and if this event was held on a weekday, they might not be able to come due to studies! =( What should I do now??!!!

But we did manage to ask the VP if she knows that we are going to use the Drink Stall and such and she replied that she knows and she is also currently trying to get the aunties at the stall to provide with us free drinks! O.o I could not believe (yet again) that she trusted us not to destroy the things in the Drink Stall and let us use it when Wind’s Café (風の喫茶店) is operating!!! But alas! We forgotten to ask her if the school is willing to help us print the posters in full colour for each class to put on the notice board!

[On 9 May 2008, Friday]
=Around 11.26am=
Elie and I saw VP walking down the corridor and we both ran up to her. We finally managed to ask her if the school is willing to help us print the poster for every class to be put up at the notice board! She agreed! Yay~~~ This means that we could make the posters till perfectionn and also that we do not have to use up our own printer inks! =^0^=

============================================
Hope that Elie is able to design a super wonderful poster for Wind’s Café (風の喫茶店) !!!!

*~.:: ♥Thinking of taking up sewing?!♥::.~*

You didn't read the title wrongly. Yes, I am indeed thinking of taking up sewing lessons or at least teach myself to sew. Not those usual patching a hole or sewing on a button thing. Why am I thinking of taking up sewing lessons suddenly??!! Well, I reckon by learning how to sew, it good to learn something new and I could make things myself which will save some money on rather buying some of those overpriced items!

I have to confess that I wish to learn how to sew as I can make my own Lolita items (such as headdress, top hat, cuffs, alice bow etc) then. =^0^=

Maybe when I have more time such as after Ordinary Levels I shall buy some books or take up lessons at a near by Community Centre to learn! =D

If I am really enjoying it or something, maybe I'll just get a sewing machine. But then, perhaps it's too early to say now...

A Brighter Lolita Future!!!!!!!!!~~~Hopefully SGD will strengthen!

Guess what? I showed my mum the Gothic and Lolita Bible Volume 25 Japanese Version which Kristy bought for me(Thank you Kristy!^0^) and she commented that the Sweet Lolita looks really cute and gorgeous!!! She further commented that if it wasn't that expensive, she would have bought some for me! =^0^= Now that's something!

Each year, I will be able to buy some clothes around $100+ in total to make do as my Chinese New Year(CNY) clothes. Thus, I commented that I might as well buy Lolita clothes as my CNY clothes and she agreed! However, she added that she would only be able to buy those which cost around $100+. Never mind. I shall save up enough money to hopefully buy a BTSSB(or maybe some other from Black Alice) Lolita with the help of my mother's $100+!!!

But I think that it's confirmed that I am going to Black Alice to buy the Lolita!!! =^0^= Yay~~~!!!! I think that my relatives are going to be so shocked when they see me next year!! =D

Also, I shall hope that Singapore Dollars will strengthen even more so that the Lolitas and other imports will not cost as much!

Happily yours,
+-+miko kagome+-+!~~~

*~.:: ♥Checked out Black Alice Grand Opening yesterday♥::.~*

[UPDATED 22/04/2008 TO ADD PICTURES OF THE STORE!]
Yesterday, 19 April 2008 (Saturday), was the grand re-opening of my favourite lolita store, Black Alice.

How could I missed it???!!!!

After several discussions, I found out that Rin and Kristy were both interested to visit Black Alice as well. So in the end, Kristy, Rin, Huang Wang, Elie and I arranged to meet up at Douby Ghaut MRt Station. After several delays, we finally found each other! Kristy warned me that her mother is going to come along with us but I didn't expect it to turn into a reality! Her mother seemed to be very strict person but I think that she is a really nice person who dotes on Kristy for she lets Kristy buy things almost whenever she ask for it!

Since I was the only one who was really familiar with the way to Black Alice, I lead the way like a tour guide.

Upon arriving, I was overwhelmed by the sight in front of me. Black Alice has transformed big time since I last visited when it was only a shell! As Black Alice promised, the store was filled with lots of adorable item. I am not kidding! What can say you about two racks full of jumpers, dresses, blouses and panniers? Don't forget the parasols, BJDs shoes and garments, and also many other accessories like headdresses, top hats, bags and necklaces!

Elie and I pondered around the store, poking at the items we like and getting way too starry eyed. The store was filled with people. A sofa was there for customers to sit on. The Lolita girls took advantage of this to rest their feet. Noticed that I had said Lolita girls. Now why is that so? The reason is simple. There were actually people who were dressed up in Lolitas to visit the grand re-opening of Black Alice! Black Alice is definitely having lots of business on that day! Why, Kristy contributed to it as well! She managed to get her mum to pay for a pair of shoes for her BJD Kisaki! She later told me that if only she brought her Kisaki here for she would be able to persuade her mother to pay for the garment she intend to buy for Kisaki as well! My my....Kristy is certainly something! Now do you understand why I said that her mother dotes on her??! ^0^

I wished that I had enough money to get something! The clothes are certainly too gorgeous!!!! I am not the only one for Elie spotted a Rabbit Ears blouse she wanted for a long time. Well, I am currently searching for a lolita skirt to match with my blouse...so oh well....any sponsors? >.<

ALL PICTURES TAKEN FROM HERE

When Black Alice was at Little Red Dot

BUT NOW...BIGGER STORE!!!~~~
Black Alice at The Cathay!!!

After visiting Black Alice, the others went their own way while I took Huang Wang for a tour of other Lolita and Cosplay stores worth seeing such as Atsuki, MR. COSPLAY’S OTAKU HOUSE, Haru and Blood Romance. She was of course amazed by the clothings and eventually decided to go Gothic Lolita style! Funny that she actually did not wish to wear skirts or dresses at first...

After that I went to Hougang Mall while Huang Wang went home. i was eating Strawberry Sundae walking outside Hougang Mall when i saw a stall selling an cream coloured laced umbrella with designs(like those you would find on BTSSB dresses) looks a lot like a Lolita parasol. They are selling it only $23.??(Forgotten the exact cents)when a parasol is around $60++. I told the staff(Female, around 20++) that it looks like a Lolita Umbrella and asked her if she knew what it was. Turns out that she had heard that phrase before but did not know what it exactly is. I explained to her about lolita and that lolita is not cosplay, there are stores that sells cosplay and lolita clothes in Singapore(She thought that we have to tailor lolita clothes) etc... I found out that her younger sister was interested in cosplay and lolita so I gave her the name cards of Black Alice, Haru, Pan-In-The-Box and Mr Cosplay's Otaku House for her sister to have a chance to get those clothes! =D But I was kind of sad to part with my name cards*especially Black Alice for it's really nice and posh! Black background and Black Alice design in gold!!*...never mind...I shall visit those stores some day and get the name cards again! =^0^=

I guess that I shall stop here! ^0^

P.S I was surprised that I would actually dare to talk to some stranger about lolita and cosplay! O.o Guess that I am really friendly after all!!! You guys were right to put it as my characteristics.... =D
